About
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides a support system and continuum of care to Starkville residents through essential programming that that will improve the chances of finding and maintaining stability for our neighbors in need. We connect on economic empowerment. Our efforts within the community focus on four main pillars: food insecurity, homelessness, housing insecurity and community advocacy. We work closely with our community support network and partnerships to provide a more efficient support system for those in need in Oktibbeha County.
Current Projects and Programs:
-Second Servings - fighting hunger and reducing food waste
-Neighbors Helping Neighbors - monthly outreach event to provide essentials like food, hygiene products and household essentials to those in need
-Path to Stability/Path to Prosperity - program to help homeless and at-risk individuals move from crisis to independence and then maintain for long-term success
-Work Local Program - connect individuals with local employment opportunities and job readiness support
-Starkville Strong at MSU - student-led initiative connecting MSU and EMCC students with Starkville Strong's community work
-Making Tough Choices/Homeless Experience - educational outreach programs designed to foster empathy, raise awareness and inspire action around the challenges of poverty and housing insecurity
-Starkville Strong Youth Coalition - dynamic, youth-led branch to create a stronger, more compassionate community through hands-on service, community projects and local advocacy efforts
-Neighbor Exchange Program - innovative, community-based solution to housing instability by partnering with compassionate, local residents willing to open their homes to provide temporary shelter to those in crisis
-Starkville Strong Internship Program - for individuals of all ages who want to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, community outreach and advocacy
